Carol Park, CEO of thera-LINK as well as a registered dietitian and Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Texas for many years, will be speaking during a session at the FNCE 2014 Conference and Expo event in Atlanta, Georgia on October 19th. Carol will discuss how technology is increasingly entering our lives and shaping the way we live and work. Telehealth and telemedicine have been proven to be effective over decades of research and the landscape is changing quickly to support the use of video conferencing to connect with clients remotely. As the food and nutrition experts, dietitians can take the opportunity at hand to be in the lead of providing distance nutritional counseling, which will allow for greater access to healthcare and improved outcomes. In taking the lead, however, it takes extra skill and extra caution to assure that one is practicing within the boundaries and standards of one’s profession and license. This session will highlight what dietitians need to be aware of in order to practice professionally, safely and ethically when providing online counseling to their clients.
